a good weekend

I woke up early Saturday and while Matthew and the animals snored away I sat down and watched a movie, Onegin on TV. I had never seen it and I liked it, but it was a little depressing and after I finished I tried to find something on the on-demand movies that could match it's sentiment without being so blue. There it was, My Best Friend's Wedding. I had not seen it in years so I watched it next. Two movies about heartache, just one that was funny and not completely morose.
We took the dog out, went to 5:30 Mass, grocery shopping, and had a nice evening in.
Sunday we did much the same and went on a fun walk with the dog in the battlefield and he got to come off of his leash and run around for the first time in who knows. He was good at fetching a tennis ball, but a little overwhelmed with his new found freedom and was easily distracted by himself. ☺
Yesterday after work we went out again to another expansive field and let him run free, but he found the parking lot more interesting than us and our Frisbee, so we put the lead back on him and took a looooong walk. We passed through 2 fields and must have walked for almost an hour.
When we arrived back I gave Toodles a bath inside and he was pretty good at standing still, not whining or barking. The cats are getting more used to him and Patchey is even playing around with him more, and Wader isn't afraid to be within a few inches of him, so that is good.
Matthew brought home a baby gate someone left in an apartment and it looks brand new! I was really happy with it, since we could use it to section off parts of the house on days when we can't have eyes in every room. He also brought home a grill, which looked nice also. Apparently people just leave things behind when they move from his apartment complex. We always cleaned everything out when we moved, people are strange!
