Every year I have to register my disgust at the Soddy Daisy Fireworks Show. This year, was a banner year for the redneck majority. I emailed the SDPD this:
I just wanted to say that I have been going to the fireworks at the lake for years, and this year I was amazed at the lack of policing going on. I saw two police officers in their cars, and that was it. Just riding around the crowd, I saw many recreational vehicles that are not "road-safe", some golf carts and ATVs even being driven by children. I just found it to be incredibly unsafe for the operators of these vehicles, as well as myself. Some of these vehicles had no headlights, brakelights, seat belts, etc. riding on the same roads as huge cars and trucks in a very congested area.
Just curious as to the "tolerated?" disregard of the road laws on July 4th.
So, there! We saw 10 to 1 rebel flags versus the few and hard to find American Flags while riding around.
I am so sick of going and thinking I am at some white pride rally. We even saw a "white pride worldwide" t-shirt wearing redneck. Geez. I was physically ill.
Every year is the same though, and I swear that when I do have children I will make the effort to go downtown to the fireworks show there, just because in Soddy it is not clear that it is a celebration of America. My children should know which flag they will see on July 4th.
