Yeah, it's really sad, isn't it? And it's tough because it seems like everything to support breast cancer research goes to the Susan G. Komen foundation.
ReplyDeleteJust to clarify - On occassion, Susan G. Komen for the Cure Affiliates have granted money to Planned Parenthood. But this is a last resort. Grants are given based on the need in the community for free and/or affordable breast health services for those who are either uninsured or underinsured. When there is no other facility that offers those resources, the Komen Affiliate grants money for breast health education and screening to Planned Parenthood - no money is used for abortions. Making these services available allows for a greater chance of early detection and a better opportunity for survival.

ReplyDeleteWho would go into Planned Parenthood just to get their breasts examined?
There are plenty of other clinics and health departments that can do it for free.
